Syncing students and staff from Google
The roster sync reads your Google directory and keeps Edventory's students and staff in step with it: who they are, their building and their grade, based on the org unit (OU) each account sits in.
Add one rule per OU you want on the roster
In Settings → Google Workspace → Org-unit rules, map each OU to Student or Staff. A rule covers the OU and everything under it, and the most specific rule wins. Accounts outside every rule are left off the roster.
Name the building on each school's OU
Pick a Building on the rule for a school's OU, such as /Students/Lincoln → Lincoln High. Student OUs usually aren't the same as the Chromebook OUs your buildings came from, so without this, students synced from Google have no building.
Give per-grade OUs a grade
If students sit in grade OUs, add a rule for each with its grade, such as /Students/Lincoln/Grade 05 → grade 5. A rule with only a grade can sit under a rule with only a building.
Sync
Use Sync roster now, or Sync now when the nightly roster sync is on. The roster reloads when the sync finishes and tells you how many people were added, updated and deactivated.
