Retiring devices
When devices leave service, retire them. A retired device leaves the active fleet, your lifecycle counts and the budget forecast, and keeps its history.
To retire one device, click Retire on its row, or open it and click Retire at the bottom of the panel.
Select the devices
On the Devices page, tick the box on each row, or the box in the header to select every row shown. Your selection stays as you search and change filters, so you can build it up in a few passes.
Click Retire
The bar above the table shows Retire N devices, where N counts the selected devices that can be retired. Click it, check the count, and confirm.
Google-managed Chromebooks are skipped, because Google Workspace sync sets their status from Google. Retire those with Deprovision instead. Devices that are already retired are skipped too, and the confirmation says how many of each it will leave alone. A building administrator retires only devices in their own school or in the district pool.
