How Staff Development works
Staff Development (formerly Professional Growth) is where teachers ask to attend professional development (PD), plan their own growth, and keep a record of what they did. Principals approve, and the district office pays and reports.
Teachers
Teachers sign in with Google. Anyone active on your staff roster can, and their sign-in only opens Staff Development. On My PD they write an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP), file requests with + New request, track endorsements and keep a private file cabinet of certificates and transcripts. The Catalog lists the trainings your district hosts.
Principals
Each school's principal approves its teachers' requests and plans, by a link in an email or in the app. A principal doesn't need an Edventory account to approve by email, and one who is a Staff Development manager (access with Configure on) and whose Team account belongs to the school sees what is waiting for them under Review.
The district office
Staff Development managers set things up in Settings, check completions, record payments, and follow everyone's hours on the Educators tab. All requests lists every request with filters for status, who pays and college courses.
| Stage | What it means |
|---|---|
| Prior approval | Sent to the principal. The teacher can still edit or withdraw it. |
| Approved | The teacher attends, then turns in the Completion: proof, hours and, when they paid, a receipt. A completion sent back for changes stays here. |
| Payment | The district office accepted the completion and pays the vendor or reimburses the teacher. A no-cost activity is done once its completion is accepted. |
